The short answer
Ruler builds you a report of what worked. DataCops makes sure the ads learn it, so they find more buyers.
DataCops is a tool that makes the ads learn from real sales: it sends booked, showed, won and paid stages from your CRM back to your ad platforms, keeps bots out first, warms up new campaigns with your existing customers, and logs every send. It is not an attribution report and does not do call tracking.
How DataCops does it:
- The sale after the click. HighLevel natively (lead, booked, showed, won with value, paid), any CRM by webhook, Salesforce and Dynamics through the webhook, Shopify through the DataCops Shopify app, all matched to the click by click ID or hashed email and phone.
- Real people only. Every visit gets a bot verdict against 360+ billion IPs, with a Real people only switch per ad platform, and every form email is checked (disposable providers, domains with no mail server and an email risk score).
- Ads Warmup. Upload your existing customers (up to 20,000 rows), see a 0 to 10 match score per person, and send them to Meta, Google Ads and TikTok so new campaigns start warm.
- First-party collection. One script and one DNS record on your own domain; with your DNS on Cloudflare, the free Worker reads the click at the edge before the page loads. Click IDs are kept on the server for up to 90 days.
- Consent, memory and proof. A TCF 2.2 consent banner, a server-set cookie up to 400 days where enabled, and a delivery log row for every send.
Best for: ad-funded businesses whose sales close in a CRM or on a call: clinics, home services, agencies, B2B and lead gen.
The alternatives at a glance:
- DataCops: best for ad-funded businesses that want the ads to learn from real sales.
- WhatConverts: best for agencies tracking calls, forms and chat per client.
- CallRail: best when the phone is where you sell.
- Wicked Reports: best for ecommerce and subscription brands measuring lifetime value.
- Dreamdata: best for B2B SaaS doing account-based attribution.
Most people look for a Ruler Analytics alternative because of the price. But it hides a better question: what do you do with the report once you have it?
Every Ruler alternatives list compares dashboards and attribution models. None of them ask who the report is for. That is what this guide is about.
A report is not a signal
Attribution tools answer one question for you: which campaign brought the money? Ruler answers it well. It joins your CRM revenue to the ads, forms and calls behind it, and shows you the result in a model you can pick.
Then what? You read it, and you move budget by hand. Meanwhile Meta and Google Ads keep bidding on what they can see: a form fill. They do not read your dashboard. They learn from the events you send them.
- The ads optimise for what they receive. Send them form fills and they find more people who fill in forms, not people who buy.
- A report changes one decision a week. A stage sent to the ads changes every bid, every hour.
- Bots poison both. A bot lead in the report is a wrong number. A bot lead in Meta is a lead Meta goes looking for more of.
Ruler can pass data to ad platforms through its integrations. But its product is the report, and it is priced like one. DataCops is priced and built for the other job: the tracking layer that gets the right events, from real people, with consent, to the ads.
Attribution tells you what worked. DataCops tells the ads, so it keeps working.
The real difference: who learns from the sale
Here is what that means in practice, one job at a time.
The sale goes to the ads, not only to a report
Ruler joins CRM revenue to the marketing touchpoints and shows you the result. That is useful for a monthly review.
DataCops is built around the moment after the form. Install it once on your HighLevel agency and pick the clients. Form leads, booked calls, show-ups, won deals with their value and paid invoices go to each client's Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, LinkedIn, Microsoft Ads, Reddit, Pinterest and X, matched to the ad click. Any other CRM posts the sale to a private webhook. Cancellations, no-shows and lost deals are never sent. Read more on offline conversions and HighLevel conversion tracking.
Every visit gets a verdict
We found no bot filter on Ruler's site. A bot that fills your form becomes a lead in the report, and a conversion if it is passed on.
DataCops checks every visit for bots, datacenter traffic, VPNs and proxies, and turns it into one switch per ad platform (see click fraud protection). Turn on Real people only for Meta and flagged visits never reach Meta. It is off by default. Once it is on, bots and datacenter traffic are blocked, and VPN, proxy and Tor blocking are optional. On the Organization plan, repeat bot IPs are pushed to your Cloudflare and challenged at the edge, and flagged Google Ads clicks export as refund evidence for Google's Click Quality Form.
First-party, from your own subdomain
DataCops runs server-side from your own subdomain, with one script and one DNS record. Ad blockers and Safari do not strip it. Click IDs are kept 90 days and a visitor can be remembered up to 400 days (with consent in the EU). We found no first-party subdomain setup described on Ruler's site.
Consent is built in
We found no consent manager of its own on Ruler's site. DataCops includes a first-party consent manager built to the IAB TCF v2.2 standard. The cookie banner shows in Europe by default, Google Consent Mode v2 is on by default, and the server checks consent again before every send.
You can see why each event was sent
DataCops writes every conversion as a row per platform (sent, held, skipped or failed) with the reason next to it. When a client asks why last month's conversions dropped, the answer is in the row.
Privacy and data deletion are built in
Visitors can ask for their data to be deleted through a form on your privacy page: they confirm by email, their session data is anonymised, and a status page shows what was done. Deletion requests from Meta, TikTok and LinkedIn are acted on automatically. Click IDs, sessions and the click log are deleted after 90 days, and the identity store holds hashed emails and phones only. Google Ads deletions are still a manual step on your side.
Ruler counts the money after the fact. DataCops sends it where it changes the next click.
The real cost of a cheap tool
The rest is in the questions nobody asks before they buy. Answer them with your own numbers.
How many hours will it take to build your Ruler setup, CRM mapping and ad platform integrations before the first sale is tracked?
How many hours a month will someone spend keeping it working when Meta, Google or TikTok change something?
If a tag breaks quietly for a week, how many leads never reach your ads? And what is one lead worth to you?
How many sales a month close in your CRM that your ads never hear about?
The last question is the one that matters most. When the ads only see form fills, they learn to find more people who fill in forms, not people who buy. A better report does not fix that. A better signal does.
The report shows you the leak. It does not fix the pipe.

A DataCops session is one visit, like in Google Analytics, and a new session starts after 30 minutes of no activity. Sessions past your plan are skipped until you upgrade or the month resets. Ruler column checked on ruleranalytics.com, 2 October 2026. "Not found on its site" means we looked and found no such feature described.

1. DataCops: best Ruler Analytics alternative overall
DataCops is the tracking solution for ad-funded businesses: it keeps bots out of what your ads learn from and sends the sale that happens after the form to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, LinkedIn, Microsoft Ads, Reddit, Pinterest and X. It replaces the stack under your reports: server-side tracking, a built-in cookie banner, bot filtering, click fraud protection and CRM sales sent back to the ads. It captures leads first-party from your own subdomain, gives every visit a bot verdict, checks consent, and sends each CRM stage to the ads matched to the click. The ads then find more people like your buyers, without you reading a dashboard first.
Why people switch to it
- A fraction of the price for the same traffic
- Booked, showed, won and paid sent to the ads
- Real people only keeps bots out of each platform
- Self-serve, with a free plan
Worth knowing
- Phone calls count once they become a booking or sale in your CRM
- Real people only is off until you switch it on
Best for: businesses that want the ads to learn what makes money, not just you.

2. WhatConverts: best for agency lead tracking
WhatConverts tracks leads across calls, forms and chat, and suits agencies reporting per client. Each plan includes some usage credit and a 14-day trial, and usage fees sit on top.
Like Ruler, it is a lead reporting tool. Bots and consent stay your job.
Why people switch to it
- Much cheaper than Ruler to start
- Calls, forms and chat in one place
Worth knowing
- Usage fees add up
- No bot filter on its pricing
Best for: teams that need to report leads per client, including calls.

3. CallRail: best when the phone is where you sell
CallRail is the best known name in call tracking.
It answers which ad made the phone ring. It does not keep bots out of your ad platforms or handle consent.
Why people switch to it
- Strong call tracking
- Low entry price
Worth knowing
- Numbers and minutes cost extra
- Built around calls, lighter elsewhere
Best for: businesses where phone calls are your main conversion.

4. Wicked Reports: best for lifetime value
Wicked Reports measures attribution by customer lifetime value, which suits ecommerce and subscription brands.
For online stores, purchases already reach the ads, so the question is whether you need a deeper report. See our Wicked Reports alternatives.
Why people switch to it
- Lifetime value attribution
- Built for repeat buyers
Worth knowing
- Priced close to Ruler
- Less fit for lead-gen
Best for: brands that sell by subscription and measure lifetime value.

5. Dreamdata: best for B2B SaaS
Dreamdata maps the whole B2B buying journey at account level. There is a free plan for B2B web analytics, with attribution and activation on custom pricing. It fits SaaS teams with long cycles and many people per deal.
For a clinic, an agency client or a local service, it is more than you need. See our Dreamdata alternatives.
Why people switch to it
- Account-level journeys
- A free plan to start
Worth knowing
- Paid tiers start high
- Built for B2B SaaS only
Best for: teams that sell B2B software to buying committees.
When not to use DataCops
- You need call tracking. DataCops does not do dynamic number swapping or call recording. CallRail and WhatConverts do. It counts the call when it becomes a booking or sale in your CRM.
- You need multi-touch attribution, marketing mix modelling or an analyst view. Ruler offers these; its higher plans add marketing mix modelling and an AI agent. DataCops cleans what goes into your ads, it is not a reporting layer.
- You need account-level B2B journeys. Dreamdata is built for that.
- You want a dedicated customer success manager and white-glove onboarding. Ruler includes both on every plan.
What's your actual goal?
Nobody wants an attribution model for its own sake. You want five things:
- Capture every lead and sale, including the ones ad blockers and Safari hide.
- Send them to your ad platforms, so Meta, Google, TikTok, LinkedIn and the rest learn who buys.
- Include the sales that happen offline, on a call, in a clinic, in your CRM.
- Keep bots out, so the platforms do not learn from fake leads.
- Stay compliant, with consent checked and data deleted on request.
Ruler is strongest on a sixth thing: knowing, in a report, which channel made the money. DataCops is built for the five above. Here is the same goal, done both ways.
The traditional way, with Ruler
- Book a demo and agree a price for your traffic.
- Add the tracking script and set up onboarding with your CSM.
- Connect your CRM and map revenue fields.
- Pick an attribution model and read the reports.
- Set up integrations to pass conversions to your ad platforms.
- Buy a consent banner and wire it in.
- Clean bot leads out of the data yourself.
- Move budget by hand when the report says so.
With DataCops
- Add one script and one DNS record.
- Connect each ad platform.
- Switch on the built-in cookie banner.
- Switch on Real people only.
- Connect HighLevel or your CRM webhook.
Then run your business. Each stage reaches the ads matched to the click, and the ads find more people like your buyers.
Ruler tells you where to move the budget. DataCops lets the ads move it for you, every hour.
Why people leave Ruler
Ruler is a serious product. People leave for reasons around it, not because it is broken.
- No way to try it first. We found no free plan and no trial. You start with sales and onboarding.
- The report is the product. Most of what you pay for is dashboards and models. If you mainly need the ads to learn, you pay for a lot you do not use.
- Bots are not handled. We found no bot verdict or filter on its site, so fake leads land in the report and in the ads.
- No HighLevel. Agencies running client accounts on HighLevel find no native connection listed.
Offline conversions, by industry
Most businesses do not sell on the website. The website collects the lead. The money comes later, and that later moment is what your ads need to learn from. Here is what DataCops sends, by industry.
| Business | What the pixel sees | What DataCops adds |
|---|---|---|
| Clinics, dental, med spa | Booking form | Booked, showed, treatment paid |
| Home services, roofing, solar | Quote request | Estimate booked, job won with its value |
| Agencies running client ads | Form fills per client | Every client's booked, showed, won and paid |
| B2B and SaaS | Demo request, signup | Qualified lead, trial, paid, by webhook |
| Legal, finance, high-ticket services | Enquiry | Consult booked, client signed |
From HighLevel natively, or any CRM by webhook, directly or through Zapier, Make or n8n. Each sale is matched to the ad click by click ID or hashed email and phone.
- A visitor clicks your ad. DataCops keeps the click ID on your own domain.
- The lead books, shows up or buys in your CRM, days or weeks later.
- DataCops finds the original click by click ID or the lead's hashed email and phone.
- The stage goes to every connected ad platform, counted once. On Google Ads, refunds are corrected too.
If you sell online and every purchase already reaches the ads, this part matters less. The case for DataCops then rests on bots kept out, consent, first-party capture and no dashboard to babysit.
Ads Warmup: tell the ads who pays
An attribution report tells you which touchpoints led to revenue. It does not tell the ad platforms who your customers are, so new campaigns learn from scratch. The customers you already have are the best description of who to find.
Ads Warmup, DataCops' flagship feature, sends them to your ad platforms before a campaign spends:
- Upload a customer list. A CSV of past buyers, old leads or booked calls. DataCops reads your columns; only email is required.
- See a match score for every person. An estimate from 0 to 10 from email, phone, name, location, click ID and customer ID, before anything is sent.
- Pick the event. Purchase, Lead, Complete registration, Add to cart or Schedule.
- Send server-side. Up to 20,000 people per upload to Meta, Google Ads and TikTok, with a sent, skipped or failed result per person. Google Ads credits only people who clicked a Google ad.
Each row is dated when you press send, not with the old sale date, so it gives a new campaign real customers to learn from on day one. Preview is free; sending needs a paid plan.
What else a reporting tool never does
- Capture at the edge. With DNS on Cloudflare, the free, optional DataCops Cloudflare Worker reads click IDs and UTMs off the first request, before the page or any script runs. It captures; it does not block.
- Check the lead's email. Fixed rules, not guesses: disposable providers, domains with no mail server and an email risk score. With LeadCops (Business and up), a lead that fails is held and never billed.
- Install on Shopify. The DataCops Shopify app adds a web pixel and a theme app embed. See Shopify Conversions API.
- Hand evidence to Google. On the Organization plan, the fraud refund report exports bot-flagged Google Ads clicks in the format Google's Click Quality form asks for. You attach it; Google decides.
Meta health and wellness restrictions
If you advertise a clinic, a treatment or anything health related, Meta may restrict the events it accepts from you. What usually gets an account restricted is the data itself: the page link names the treatment, the event is called Book_Implant_Consult, the form sends symptoms.
With DataCops, you switch on health mode. It sends only a short approved list: hashed email and phone, the ad click, value, currency and order ID. Page links are cut to the domain and event names go neutral, so Lead becomes L_1. We found no equivalent on Ruler's site.
Read more on Meta health and wellness restrictions.
Setup, step by step, side by side
Here is the same job done both ways. Ruler steps are based on what its own site describes. DataCops steps are what you do in the dashboard.
| The job | With Ruler | |
|---|---|---|
| Get started | Talk to sales, agree a price for your traffic, then white-glove onboarding. | Sign up free and add one script and one DNS record. |
| Connect your CRM | Native Salesforce, HubSpot or Dynamics 365, or others through integrations. | HighLevel natively, or post stages to a private webhook. |
| Send stages to the ads | Set up the ad platform integrations. | One click for Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and LinkedIn. An API key for Microsoft Ads, Reddit and Pinterest. Google Ads actions are created as secondary. |
| Handle consent | Bring a consent banner from another vendor. | Switch on the built-in cookie banner, built to the IAB TCF v2.2 standard. |
| Keep bots out | No bot filter found. Clean the data yourself. | Switch on Real people only for each platform. |
| Track phone calls | Built in, with dynamic numbers. | Send the booking from your CRM instead. |
| Find out why a conversion is missing | Ask your CSM or check the platform. | Open the delivery log row. The reason is written next to it. |
Ruler gives you people to help on every plan. That is a real plus. The question is whether you want to pay for the setup to be a project.
"15 minutes to get server-side tracking live. After 3 days failing with another app and a DIY server-side Google Tag Manager, that alone sold me. Then support jumped on a Google Meet with me on a Sunday afternoon to finish the job."Andrew Forsyth, Chief Executive Officer, Zeald
What to know before you switch
- Ruler's dynamic call tracking is its real strength. If most of your leads ring a number on the site, plan how those calls will be logged before you remove Ruler's numbers.
- Calls count once they reach your CRM. When a call becomes a booking or a sale there, DataCops sends that stage to the ads, matched to the original click. Ruler users who already log calls in Salesforce, HubSpot or Dynamics can send those stages by webhook.
- Setup tip: ask Microsoft early. Sending conversions to Microsoft Ads needs its UET Conversions API pilot. Ask your account manager to enable it while you set up the other seven platforms.
Moving from Ruler to DataCops
- Add DataCops. One script and one DNS record.
- Connect your ad accounts, and send each conversion from one place only, so nothing counts twice.
- Connect your CRM (HighLevel or your webhook) so booked, showed, won and paid reach the ads.
- Watch for a few weeks in Meta Events Manager and Google Ads: match quality, conversions and what DataCops skipped as bots.
- Cancel Ruler at renewal once your ads run on DataCops data.
Every DataCops product mentioned here
- Offline conversions: CRM sales and stages back to your ads.
- HighLevel conversion tracking and DataCops for agencies.
- Server-side tracking and the no-GTM alternative.
- Meta Conversions API, Google Ads conversion tracking, TikTok Events API, LinkedIn Conversions API.
- Click fraud protection, SignupCops and first-party analytics.
- Consent manager, Ads Warmup and health mode.
Ruler Analytics alternatives: FAQ
What is the best Ruler Analytics alternative?
DataCops, because it replaces Ruler Analytics and the rest of the tracking stack in one tool: server-side tracking from your own subdomain, a built-in cookie banner, a bot verdict on every visit, click fraud protection, and CRM stages like booked, showed, won and paid sent to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, LinkedIn, Microsoft Ads, Reddit, Pinterest and X, matched to the click. Free up to 2,000 sessions, no demo needed.
Does DataCops do call tracking?
DataCops counts the call where it matters: when it becomes a booking or a sale in your CRM, that stage goes to your ads, matched to the click. Ruler, CallRail and WhatConverts use dynamic phone numbers to track the call itself.
Does Ruler Analytics send conversions to Meta and Google Ads?
Ruler lists Google Ads, Facebook, LinkedIn and TikTok among its integrations and says it sends revenue data to over 1,000 apps. Its core product is the attribution report. DataCops is built the other way round: sending each stage to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, LinkedIn, Microsoft Ads, Reddit, Pinterest and X, matched to the click, is the main job, with a delivery log row for every event.
Does Ruler Analytics filter bots?
We found no bot verdict per visit and no bot filter on its site. DataCops checks every visit for bots, datacenter traffic, VPNs and proxies, and with Real people only switched on for a platform, flagged visits never reach it. It is off by default. Once on, bots and datacenter traffic are blocked, and VPN, proxy and Tor blocking are optional.
Which CRMs does DataCops connect to?
HighLevel natively: install once for your agency and pick the clients. Any other CRM, including Salesforce and Dynamics 365, posts its stages to a private webhook, directly or through Zapier, Make or n8n.
Does DataCops do multi-touch attribution or MMM?
DataCops does a different job. It gives you first-party analytics and a click log by campaign, and sends the real stages to the ad platforms, whose own models then learn from sales instead of form fills. Multi-touch models and MMM are where Ruler focuses.
Can I warm up a new campaign with my existing customers?
Yes, with DataCops Ads Warmup. Upload a CSV of past buyers, old leads or booked calls (only email is required, up to 20,000 rows), see a match score from 0 to 10 for every person, and send them to Meta, Google Ads and TikTok as fresh signal, dated when you send. An attribution report tells you what worked; it does not tell the ad platforms who your customers are. Preview is free; sending needs a paid plan.
Do I need Ruler if I already send CRM sales to my ads?
Not for the ads. Ruler joins CRM revenue to marketing touchpoints for reporting, with multi-touch attribution, marketing mix modelling on its top plan, and pushes revenue data to many tools. DataCops sends the stages (booked, showed, won with value, paid) back to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and LinkedIn, matched to the click, so the ads learn from them. Teams that want both a report and the ads fixed can use them side by side.
Which ad platforms does DataCops send to?
Eight: Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, LinkedIn, Microsoft Ads, Reddit, Pinterest and X. Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, LinkedIn and X connect with one click. Microsoft Ads, Reddit and Pinterest connect with an API key. Microsoft uses its UET Conversions API, a Microsoft pilot your account manager enables.
