Fix Klaviyo Abandoned Cart Flows That Never Fire
Klaviyo can only email a shopper it recognises, and its cookie lasts about 7 days. DataCops can remember returning shoppers for up to 400 days and sends their product views, cart adds and checkout starts to Klaviyo from the server, so the flows you already built finally fire.

Trusted by agencies and brands running paid media

Who it is for
Stores whose Klaviyo browse, cart and checkout flows reach fewer shoppers than they should.

Klaviyo abandoned cart flow not working? The four usual causes
Started Checkout does not always fire, Viewed Product is not tracking, Added to Cart is missing on Shopify. The flows are fine. Klaviyo just never hears about most of the shoppers who should enter them.
The shopper is not identified
Klaviyo only tracks a shopper it has cookied, and the cookie lasts about 7 days. A shopper who comes back after that browses and adds to cart as a stranger, so no flow starts.
An ad blocker stops Klaviyo's script
Ad blockers and privacy settings stop Klaviyo's script from reporting views and cart adds, even for shoppers it knows. Viewed Product and Added to Cart never leave the browser.
Started Checkout never fires
One-page and accelerated checkouts skip the step Klaviyo's script watches.
Bots join your list
Fake signups fill your list, get your emails and hurt your sender reputation, while real shoppers slip through.
How DataCops feeds your Klaviyo flows
Klaviyo flows are triggered by metrics on a profile. If the metric never lands on the right profile, the flow never starts, however well it is built. DataCops fixes the delivery side: it works out who the shopper is, checks that they are a real person who allowed tracking, and then sends Klaviyo's own standard metrics from its server to Klaviyo's API.
Step 1: recognise the shopper
When a shopper gives their email at checkout or on a form, DataCops links it to that visitor. When the same visitor comes back, DataCops knows who they are, even if Klaviyo's own browser cookie has run out.
For long gaps, turn on durable visitor memory for your site. It is a first-party cookie set by the server on your own DataCops subdomain, datacops.yourdomain.com, and it keeps a returning visitor recognised for up to 400 days, refreshed on each visit. It is a per-site switch that is off until you turn it on. It is only set for visitors who allowed it in your cookie banner and whose visit looks human, and it works on Safari, which wipes script storage after 7 days.
Step 2: check the visit before sending
- Bots are skipped. A visit DataCops judges to be a bot never sends a browse, cart or checkout event. Your Klaviyo page in DataCops counts how many bots were kept out.
- Consent is respected. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, an event is sent only when the shopper granted consent. Elsewhere it is sent unless the shopper refused.
- No repeats. The same metric for the same person and product is not sent again within 30 minutes, so a shopper refreshing a page does not flood their profile.
Step 3: send Klaviyo's own metrics
DataCops sends Viewed Product, Added to Cart and Started Checkout, the same names Klaviyo's templates use. Each event carries the product name, id, price, image, link and cart items, so your emails can show the right product. Your browse abandonment, abandoned cart and abandoned checkout flows start firing without any change.
DataCops also writes two profile properties: datacops_verified_human and datacops_bot. Add a flow filter or a segment rule of datacops_bot is false, and fake signups stop getting your emails and hurting your sender reputation.
Connect with a secure one-click install
You connect Klaviyo with a secure one-click install from the link in our Klaviyo docs. You approve access in Klaviyo and land back in DataCops signed in, with your site linked. Already a DataCops user? Connect Klaviyo from your dashboard instead. DataCops asks Klaviyo for four permissions, and only these:
- accounts:read to confirm which Klaviyo account you connected.
- events:write to send Viewed Product, Added to Cart and Started Checkout.
- metrics:read to read the metrics in your account.
- profiles:write to add the shopper's events and the bot flags to their profile.
One tool behind Klaviyo and your ads
The same DataCops setup that feeds Klaviyo also runs the rest of your tracking stack.
- Leads to your ad platforms. A signup through a Klaviyo form can go to your ad platforms as a Lead once you map it. DataCops sends to 8 ad platforms: Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, LinkedIn, Microsoft Ads, Reddit, Pinterest and X.
- Other CRMs too. The same verified lead can go to HubSpot, Brevo or ActiveCampaign as well as Klaviyo.
- Built-in cookie banner. Shown in Europe by default, built to the IAB TCF v2.2 standard, with Google Consent Mode v2 on by default. The server re-checks consent before every send.
- Real people only for ads. A per-platform switch, off by default, that keeps bots and datacenter traffic out of what you send to ad platforms. VPN, proxy and Tor can be added.
- Sales counted once. Each conversion carries an event ID and each sale its order ID, so the browser and the server never report the same purchase twice.
- CRM sales back to ads. When a lead becomes a sale in your CRM, DataCops can send it back to your ad platforms. HubSpot is checked every 5 minutes, and the release API covers other systems. Held leads expire after 14 days.
- A delivery log with reasons. See per platform what was sent, skipped or failed, with a plain-English reason for anything that did not go.
- Click fraud tools on Organization. Block bot IPs at the Cloudflare edge, and export refund evidence for Google's Click Quality form covering the last 60 days. Google decides the refund.
The Klaviyo connection is part of every DataCops plan. Free covers 2,000 sessions a month, Business is $59 a month and Organization is $359 a month, with lower prices on yearly billing.
Good to know before you start
- Orders and your catalog keep coming from Shopify's own Klaviyo app, so nothing is counted twice.
- DataCops sends events for shoppers who gave an email at some point. That is exactly who your flows can email.
- Turn on durable visitor memory in your site settings to recognise shoppers for up to 400 days.
- Keeping Klaviyo onsite tracking on is still a good idea. The two work side by side.

How DataCops fixes it
Your existing abandoned browse, cart and checkout flows start working for more of your real shoppers.

Remembered for 400 days
- Once a shopper gives their email at checkout or on a form, DataCops links it to them on your own domain.
- When they come back, even months later, DataCops knows who they are.
- Their product views, cart adds and checkout starts land on that Klaviyo profile.

Everything behind each Klaviyo event

One first-party script, served from your own domain
- Runs first-party from datacops.yourdomain, not a blockable third-party host
- One script, one CNAME, live in about 5 minutes, no container to host
- Server-side collection on Cloudflare's edge, close to every visitor
- Captures click IDs at the network level, so fbclid and gclid still reach your CAPI feed after browsers strip them
- Recovers 15 to 25% of the sessions other setups lose

DataCops is a tool that remembers returning Shopify shoppers for up to 400 days and sends their product views, cart adds and checkout starts to Klaviyo from the server, so the flows you already built fire.
How DataCops does it
Klaviyo only emails shoppers it recognises
Klaviyo's cookie lasts about 7 days, so a shopper who returns after a week arrives unknown and the flow never fires. DataCops recognises returning shoppers for up to 400 days where durable visitor memory is turned on in your site settings. Click IDs are kept on the server for up to 90 days.
Server-side events to Klaviyo
Product views, cart adds and checkout starts go to Klaviyo from the server for shoppers who gave an email at some point, which is exactly who your flows can email. One-page and accelerated checkouts that skip the step Klaviyo's script watches are covered.
Orders stay where they are
Orders and your catalog keep coming from Shopify's own Klaviyo app, so nothing is counted twice. DataCops runs through its own Shopify app next to it. Keeping Klaviyo onsite tracking on is still a good idea.
Real people only
Every visit gets a bot verdict against 360+ billion IPs, and a Real people only switch keeps flagged visits out of what is sent. It is off by default.
The same script feeds your ads
Every paid Shopify order goes server-side to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and LinkedIn, counted once, with a delivery log row for each send. Ads Warmup sends existing customers to Meta, Google Ads and TikTok, dated when you send. See Shopify server-side tracking.
Safari and the 7-day cap
Safari caps cookies written by browser scripts at 7 days. A signed cookie set by the server on your own domain can last up to 400 days, which is what makes the longer memory possible.
Best for: Shopify brands on Klaviyo, DTC skincare and supplement stores whose shoppers reorder after a long gap, and agencies running Klaviyo flows for clients.

FAQ
Usually because Klaviyo does not know who the shopper is. Its flows only fire for a known profile, and its browser cookie lasts about 7 days. A shopper who comes back after that, or whose browser blocks Klaviyo's script, adds to cart as a stranger, so no email goes out. DataCops can remember the shopper for up to 400 days and sends the cart event to Klaviyo from its server, so the flow can fire.
