The short answer
SEON scores a signup. DataCops keeps the risky ones out of your ads, and keeps the ad click on the real ones.
DataCops is a tool for the ad side of signup fraud: it gives every visit a bot verdict, checks each signup email, keeps flagged signups from reaching your ad platforms, sends the real sale back to the click, and lets you warm up new campaigns with your existing customers.
How DataCops does it:
- Real people only. Every visit gets a bot verdict against 360+ billion IPs and 350+ monitoring points, with a Real people only switch per ad platform, off by default. Every form email is checked for disposable providers, domains with no mail server and an email risk score.
- The sale after the form. HighLevel natively (lead, booked, showed, won with value, paid), any CRM by webhook, Shopify through the DataCops Shopify app, all matched to the click by click ID or hashed email and phone, and sent to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and LinkedIn.
- Ads Warmup. Upload your existing customers (up to 20,000 rows), see a 0 to 10 match score per person, and send them to Meta, Google Ads and TikTok so new campaigns start warm.
- First-party collection, no extra tool. One script and one DNS record put collection on your own subdomain; with your DNS on Cloudflare, the free Worker reads the click at the edge before the page loads. Click IDs are kept on the server for up to 90 days.
- Consent, memory and proof. A TCF 2.2 consent banner from your domain with Google Consent Mode v2 on by default, a server-set cookie up to 400 days where enabled, and a delivery log row for every send, counted once against the pixel.
Best for: ad-funded SaaS and lead gen teams, agencies, and anyone whose signups come from paid campaigns and whose fakes are polluting the ads.
The alternatives at a glance:
- DataCops: best for teams whose ads are being wrecked by fake signups and bot leads. Bot verdict on every visit, SignupCops for signups, and conversions sent to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, LinkedIn, Microsoft Ads, Reddit, Pinterest and X.
- Fingerprint: best for developers who want device IDs and bot or VPN signals.
- IPQS: best for SEON-style IP, email and phone checks on a small budget.
- Sift: best for large stores and marketplaces fighting payment fraud and account takeover.
- Sardine: best for fintech that needs device, behaviour and AML in one place.
Most people who search for a SEON alternative start with the price.
Most SEON alternatives lists compare fraud scores. Few ask what happens after the score. That is what this guide is about.
A score is not a fix
A fraud API does one thing. You send it a signup, it sends back a risk score. One check, one bill. What you do with the score is your job.
Here is the part nobody talks about. The fake signup has already fired your pixel. Meta, Google and TikTok have already counted it as a win. Your ads now go looking for more people like it. The fraud tool blocked the account. It did nothing about the ad that brought it in.
It gets worse with Sign in with Google. The user leaves your site for Google's login page and comes back. On the way, the ad click is often lost. So the real signup gets no credit, and the fake one does.
SignupCops works on both sides. It keeps the ad click through Sign in with Google, so real users are credited to the right ad. And it holds risky signups back from the ad platforms, so your ads learn from real users only.
Look at how the two are built. A fraud API works per check: you call it, it answers, the job ends at your app. DataCops works per visit, across the whole chain: the ad click, the visit, the signup, the sale, and what each ad platform is told about it.
| Step in the chain | Fraud API (SEON) | DataCops |
|---|---|---|
| Ad click | Not seen | Click ID kept 90 days |
| Visit | Not seen unless you call it | Bot verdict on every visit |
| Signup | Scored, per check | Risky ones held back by SignupCops |
| Sign in with Google | Not seen | Ad click kept |
| What the ads learn | Not touched | Real people only, per platform |
| The sale later | Not touched | HighLevel or webhook, back to the ad |
To be fair: SEON goes much deeper on fraud itself. Account takeover, device intelligence, manual review queues and payment fraud are its home ground. DataCops has none of that. If money moves through your signup, keep a tool like SEON for it.
SEON tells you a signup is fake. DataCops makes sure your ads never learn from it.
The real difference: what your ads learn from
Here is what that means in practice, one job at a time.
Every visit gets a verdict
SEON checks the data you send it: an email, a phone, an IP. You call it at signup or checkout, and each call counts.
DataCops checks every visit for bots, datacenter traffic, VPNs and proxies, with no call to make. Then it turns that into one switch per ad platform (see click fraud protection). Turn on Real people only for Meta and about 99% of bots never reach Meta. It is off by default, so you choose where it applies.
The ad click survives Sign in with Google
A fraud API does not track ad clicks. So when a user signs up through Google's login page, nobody keeps the click, and the signup looks like it came from nowhere.
SignupCops keeps the ad click through Sign in with Google and holds risky signups back. Real signups reach the right ad. Risky ones never teach the ad anything.
The sale happens after the signup
A signup is not a sale. The money comes later: the booked call, the paid plan, the deal marked won. SEON is not built to send those to your ads.
DataCops is. Install it on HighLevel and it sends lead, booked, showed, won with value, and paid to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, LinkedIn, Microsoft Ads, Reddit, Pinterest and X, matched to the ad click. Any other CRM posts the sale to a private webhook, directly or through Zapier, Make or n8n. Cancellations, no-shows and lost deals are never sent. CRM events carry no bot flag, so they are sent as your CRM reports them.
Tracking is included
SEON is not a tracking tool. DataCops is. One script and one DNS record send conversions server-side from your own subdomain. Click IDs are kept 90 days and visitors are remembered up to 400 days (with consent in the EU). A consent manager built to the IAB TCF v2.2 standard is included, with Google Consent Mode v2 on by default and a server check of consent before every send.
You can see why each event was sent
DataCops writes every conversion as a row per platform (sent, held, skipped or failed) with the reason next to it. The click log in first-party analytics shows what happened to each ad click. Each event carries one event ID, so it is counted once.
On the Organization plan, two more tools work on paid clicks. Cloudflare edge blocking stops flagged traffic before it loads your page, and Google refund evidence exports the last 60 days of invalid clicks as a CSV for Google's Click Quality Form. Google decides the refund.
SEON answers "is this person risky?" DataCops also answers "should my ads learn from them?"
The real cost of a cheap tool
The real cost is in the questions below. Answer them with your own numbers.
How many hours will it take to build the SEON integration, your fraud rules and a separate tracking setup before the first sale is tracked?
How many hours a month will someone spend keeping it working when Meta, Google or TikTok change something?
If a tag breaks quietly for a week, how many leads never reach your ads? And what is one lead worth to you?
How many sales a month close in your CRM that your ads never hear about?
The last question matters most. When fake signups reach your ads as wins, the ads learn to find more fakes. Cost per real customer climbs, and the fraud dashboard never shows why.
Blocking a fake account is good. Letting your ads learn from it anyway is expensive.

1. DataCops: best SEON alternative for ad-driven signups
DataCops is the tracking solution for ad-funded businesses: it keeps bots out of what your ads learn from and sends the sale that happens after the form to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, LinkedIn, Microsoft Ads, Reddit, Pinterest and X. Every visit gets a bot verdict. Real people only keeps flagged visits out of each platform. SignupCops keeps the ad click through Sign in with Google and holds risky signups back. Then your CRM sales go back to the ads.
Why people switch to it
- Fake signups stop training your ads
- Ad click kept through Sign in with Google
- Tracking and CRM sales included
- Starts free
Worth knowing
- Real people only is off until you switch it on
- Edge blocking and refund evidence are on Organization
Best for: teams whose fake signups show up as damage in their ad results.

2. Fingerprint: best for device signals
Fingerprint gives developers a stable device ID plus Smart Signals for VPNs, bots and tampering, on every plan. It is far cheaper to start than SEON. Like SEON, it hands you a signal and your code decides.
Why people switch to it
- Free tier and low entry price
- Strong device identification
Worth knowing
- You build the logic
- Nothing reaches your ads
Best for: teams with developers who need device IDs.

3. IPQS: best for cheap SEON-style checks
IPQualityScore does much of what SEON does on IP, email and phone, with a free tier and no contracts.
Why people switch to it
- Similar checks for less
- No contracts
Worth knowing
- Still per-lookup pricing
- Still a score, not a fix for your ads
Best for: SEON's checks at a small-business price.

4. Sift: best for payment fraud at scale
Sift is built for large stores and marketplaces fighting payment fraud and account takeover. If SEON feels too small for your volume, this is the step up. Pricing is not public.
Why people switch to it
- Payment and ATO depth
- Built for large volume
Worth knowing
- No public price
- Not a tracking tool
Best for: large merchants whose problem is payment fraud.

5. Sardine: best for fintech with AML
Sardine targets fintech: device and behaviour signals together with AML and compliance. It competes with SEON Premium more than Starter. Pricing is not public.
Why people switch to it
- Fraud and compliance in one
- Fintech focus
Worth knowing
- No public price
- Overkill if you do not move money
Best for: fintechs that need AML with their fraud checks.
How to choose a SEON alternative
- Does money move at signup? Yes: Sift, Sardine or IPQS. No: keep reading.
- Where does the damage show? If it is in your ad results, you need a tool that talks to the ads.
- Do you use Sign in with Google? Then you need the ad click kept, not only a score.
- Price the checks. Per-check pricing grows with every bot wave.
Pick DataCops if
- Fake signups and bot leads are teaching your ads the wrong thing.
- You lose ad credit on Sign in with Google signups.
- You want tracking, bot filtering and CRM sales in one tool, from free.
Other fraud and signup tools compared: Castle, Arkose, Sift, Verisoul, IPQualityScore, reCAPTCHA, FingerprintJS and Rupt.
When not to use DataCops
- SEON is the fraud team's workbench. Case management, AML compliance and managed risk services on Premium are built for analysts who review payments and accounts. If that team exists and uses them daily, keep SEON for that work.
- You need to judge accounts inside your product. Account takeover, payment fraud, multi-accounting and manual review are what fraud and identity tools are built for. DataCops does none of that.
- You do not run paid ads. If fakes are not reaching an ad platform, an account-fraud tool alone may be all you need.
What's your actual goal?
Nobody wants a fraud score for its own sake. If you run ads, you want four things:
- Real signups, not bots and throwaway accounts.
- Ads that learn from real users, so Meta and Google find more of them.
- Credit for every real signup, including the ones through Sign in with Google.
- The sales after the signup, sent back to the ad that earned them.
SEON covers the first one well. DataCops is built for all four. Here is the same goal, done both ways.
The traditional way, with SEON
- Integrate the SEON API into your signup flow.
- Write rules and pick a score threshold.
- Block or review risky accounts in your app.
- Set up a separate tracking tool for your ads.
- Find a way to stop fake signups reaching the pixel.
- Patch the lost ad click on Sign in with Google.
- Build a CRM feed for the sales that come later.
- Watch your 2,500 monthly checks.
With DataCops
- Add one script and one DNS record.
- Connect each ad platform.
- Switch on Real people only.
- Switch on SignupCops.
- Connect HighLevel or your CRM webhook.
Then run your ads. Bots stay out, the ad click is kept, and the sales flow back.
SEON guards the door. DataCops also makes sure your ads stop inviting the wrong people.
Why people leave SEON
SEON is a strong fraud tool. People leave for reasons around it, not in it.
- It is priced per check. Starter covers 2,500 a month. A bot wave eats checks fast.
- The score stops at your app. Your ad platforms still count the fake signup as a win.
- It does not track. You still need a tracking tool to send conversions to your ads.
- They never needed payment fraud tools. Some teams bought SEON for fake signups, and pay for AML and payments depth they do not use.
Offline conversions: what a fraud check never sees
A fraud check lives at the signup. The money comes later. Here is what DataCops sends, by business.
| Business | What the pixel sees | What DataCops adds |
|---|---|---|
| SaaS and apps | Signup | Real signups only, trial, paid, by webhook |
| Marketplaces | Account created | First real order or listing, by webhook |
| Agencies running client ads | Form fills per client | Every client's booked, showed, won and paid |
| Lead gen and high-ticket services | Enquiry | Consult booked, client signed |
See offline conversions for the full picture.
Ads Warmup: tell the ads who pays
SEON scores accounts and visitors inside your product. It does not tell the ad platforms which people are real customers, so new campaigns learn from scratch. The customers you already have are the best description of who to find.
Ads Warmup, DataCops' flagship feature, sends them to your ad platforms before a campaign spends:
- Upload a customer list. A CSV of past buyers, old leads or booked calls. DataCops reads your columns; only email is required.
- See a match score for every person. An estimate from 0 to 10 from email, phone, name, location, click ID and customer ID, before anything is sent.
- Pick the event. Purchase, Lead, Complete registration, Add to cart or Schedule.
- Send server-side. Up to 20,000 people per upload to Meta, Google Ads and TikTok, with a sent, skipped or failed result per person. Google Ads credits only people who clicked a Google ad.
Each row is dated when you press send, not with the old sale date, so it gives a new campaign real customers to learn from on day one. Preview is free; sending needs a paid plan.
What else a fraud API never does
- Capture at the edge. With DNS on Cloudflare, the free, optional DataCops Cloudflare Worker reads click IDs and UTMs off the first request, before the page or any script runs. It captures; it does not block.
- Keep the click on the server. gclid, wbraid, gbraid, fbclid, ttclid and li_fat_id are stored for up to 90 days, so a deal that closes weeks later still finds its click. A signed server-set cookie lasts up to 400 days where enabled.
- Check the lead's email. Fixed rules, not guesses: disposable providers, domains with no mail server and an email risk score. With LeadCops (Business and up), a lead that fails is held and never billed.
- Install on Shopify. The DataCops Shopify app adds a web pixel and a theme app embed, so every paid order reaches your ads, express checkouts included. See Shopify Conversions API.
- Hand evidence to Google. On the Organization plan, the fraud refund report exports bot-flagged Google Ads clicks in the format Google's Click Quality form asks for. You attach it; Google decides.
Setup, side by side
| The job | With SEON | |
|---|---|---|
| Check a signup | Call the API from your signup code, read the score, decide in your app. | Every visit gets a verdict automatically. |
| Keep fakes out of your ads | Not part of SEON. Build it in your tracking setup. | Switch on Real people only and SignupCops. |
| Keep the click on Sign in with Google | Not part of SEON. | SignupCops keeps it. |
| Send conversions to ads | Needs a separate tracking tool. | Connect Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, LinkedIn and X with one click each, and Microsoft Ads, Reddit and Pinterest with an API key. |
| Send CRM sales | Needs a separate tool. | HighLevel native or your webhook. |
| Review a suspicious case | Case management on Premium. | The delivery log shows what was held and why. |
"15 minutes to get server-side tracking live. After 3 days failing with another app and a DIY server-side Google Tag Manager, that alone sold me. Then support jumped on a Google Meet with me on a Sunday afternoon to finish the job."Andrew Forsyth, Chief Executive Officer, Zeald
What to know before you switch
- SEON is the fraud team's workbench. Case management, AML compliance and managed risk services on Premium are built for analysts who review payments and accounts. If that team exists and uses them daily, keep SEON for that work.
- Rules become switches. SEON users write custom rules (50 on Starter). On DataCops the main rule is Real people only per ad platform, off by default, blocking bots and datacenter traffic, with VPN, proxy and Tor as options. Map your top rules to those switches before you move.
- Compare on what the ads learned. SEON counts checks. Run DataCops beside it, switch on SignupCops, and after two weeks compare signups held and sent per platform in the delivery log, not the number of checks.
Moving from SEON
- Add DataCops next to SEON. One script and one DNS record. Leave SEON running.
- Connect your ad accounts and switch on Real people only and SignupCops.
- Compare for two weeks: what DataCops held back against what SEON flagged.
- Connect your CRM (HighLevel or webhook) to send the sales after signup.
- Decide on SEON. Keep it if you need payment or AML checks. Cancel it if you bought it only for fake signups.
Every DataCops product mentioned here
- SignupCops and click fraud protection.
- Server-side tracking and first-party analytics.
- Meta Conversions API, Google Ads conversion tracking, TikTok Events API, LinkedIn Conversions API.
- Offline conversions, HighLevel conversion tracking and DataCops for agencies.
- Consent manager, Ads Warmup and health mode.
SEON alternatives: FAQ
Can I warm up a new campaign with my existing customers?
Yes, with DataCops Ads Warmup. Upload a CSV of past buyers, old leads or booked calls (only email is required, up to 20,000 rows), see a match score from 0 to 10 for every person, and send them to Meta, Google Ads and TikTok as fresh signal, dated when you send. Google Ads credits only people who clicked a Google ad. Preview is free; sending needs a paid plan.
When should I keep SEON instead of switching?
SEON is the fraud team's workbench. Case management, AML compliance and managed risk services on Premium are built for analysts who review payments and accounts. If that team exists and uses them daily, keep SEON for that work.
What is the best SEON alternative?
DataCops, for most ad-funded businesses. It replaces SEON and the rest of the stack: one script, a bot verdict on every visit, a built-in consent manager, server-side sends to 8 ad platforms, and your CRM sales matched to the ad click. Other picks depend on the job. If you fight payment fraud or need AML, look at Sift or Sardine. If you want cheap IP, email and phone checks, IPQS. If you want device signals for developers, Fingerprint. If your real problem is fake signups and bot leads teaching your ads the wrong thing, DataCops: it keeps bots out of Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, LinkedIn, Microsoft Ads, Reddit, Pinterest and X and holds risky signups back with SignupCops.
Is SEON worth it for a small business?
If you move money, maybe.
Does DataCops replace SEON?
Not for payment fraud, account takeover or AML. It replaces SEON when the goal is keeping bots and risky signups out of your ad data, and keeping the ad click on real users.
What is SignupCops?
SignupCops is the DataCops signup layer. It keeps the ad click through Sign in with Google, so the signup is credited to the right ad, and it holds risky signups back from the ad platforms, so your ads learn from real users.
How does DataCops recognise a returning visitor?
With a first-party visitor cookie from your own subdomain, kept up to 400 days (with consent in the EU). Each visit also gets a bot verdict: bots, datacenter, VPN or proxy.
Does SEON send conversions to Meta or Google Ads?
Not as a tracking feature, based on its pricing page. SEON scores risk and returns the result to your system. Sending conversions to ad platforms is a separate tool. DataCops sends them server-side to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, LinkedIn, Microsoft Ads, Reddit, Pinterest and X.
Which ad platforms does DataCops send to?
Eight: Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, LinkedIn, Microsoft Ads, Reddit, Pinterest and X. Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, LinkedIn and X connect with one click. Microsoft Ads, Reddit and Pinterest connect with an API key. Microsoft Ads uses its UET Conversions API, which Microsoft runs as a pilot, so ask your Microsoft account manager to turn it on.
Can I run SEON and DataCops together?
Yes. You can keep a fraud API on payments and use DataCops for tracking and ad data. They do different jobs.
