Klaviyo
Klaviyo's abandoned browse, cart and checkout flows only fire for shoppers Klaviyo still recognises, and its browser cookie lasts about 7 days. DataCops remembers a returning visitor for up to 400 days, so more of your real shoppers reach those flows. Bots are marked on the profile so you can leave them out.
What it does
Three things: it sends browse, cart and checkout events to Klaviyo for returning shoppers DataCops recognises, it writes a bot verdict on each profile it touches, and it sends Klaviyo form signups to Meta and Google as a clean Lead.It does not replace Klaviyo's own Shopify integration. Orders and your catalog keep flowing to Klaviyo from there. It works on Shopify through the DataCops Shopify app, and on any other site through the DataCops script. For the why, see fix Klaviyo abandoned cart flows that never fire.
Install from Klaviyo
- Find DataCops in the Klaviyo app marketplace and press Install.
- Approve the permissions Klaviyo shows you.
- DataCops creates your account and a site from your Klaviyo account's website, or links the site if it already exists. You land in the DataCops dashboard, signed in. No separate sign-up.
- Add the DataCops script to your store (the dashboard shows how, and Shopify stores can use the DataCops Shopify app).
The install link is https://api.joindatacops.com/api/oauth/klaviyo/install.
Already use DataCops
If your email already has a DataCops account, we never merge accounts on our own. The install works on its own, and the dashboard shows Already use DataCops? Connect your account. Sign in once and the Klaviyo connection moves onto your existing site. You can also connect from the dashboard in Settings → Integrations → Klaviyo.
Flow booster
When a shopper DataCops recognises comes back, DataCops sends these events to Klaviyo from its server. Your existing flows that listen for them can then fire. A shopper is recognised when they gave their email on your site earlier (at checkout or on a form) and the DataCops 400-day visitor memory is on for your site. Klaviyo's own browser cookie lasts about 7 days.
| Event in Klaviyo | When | Fields sent |
|---|---|---|
| Viewed Product | A recognised shopper opens a product page. | Product name, id, price, image, URL |
| Added to Cart | A recognised shopper adds a product to the cart. | Product name, id, price, image, URL, items |
| Started Checkout | A recognised shopper starts checkout. | Items, with product name, id, price, image and URL |
Each event also carries the profile email so Klaviyo attaches it to the right person. Events are only sent for visitors DataCops judged to be real people. Anonymous visitors are never sent. The same event for the same person and product is not sent again within 30 minutes, so a shopper who reloads a page does not trigger a flow twice.
Keep bots out
DataCops writes these properties on the profiles it sends:
| Profile property | Type | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
datacops_verified_human | true or false | true when DataCops judged the visitor to be a real person. |
datacops_bot | true or false | true when DataCops judged the visitor to be a bot. |
To keep bots out of your sends, add this condition to a segment or a flow filter: datacops_bot is false. Profiles DataCops never saw have no value, so decide whether to include them with datacops_bot is not set.
Signups as Leads
When someone signs up through a Klaviyo form on your site, DataCops can send it to Meta and Google Ads as a Lead, matched to the ad click where it can be, and only if the visitor was a real person. Connect Meta or Google in the DataCops dashboard and map the Klaviyo signup to a Lead there for this to work.
Consent
For visitors in the EU or UK, nothing is sent to Klaviyo or to your ad platforms unless the visitor granted consent in your cookie banner. Elsewhere, events are sent unless the visitor refused. See consent management.
Data we send and do not send
- We send: the three events above, the email that identifies the profile, product and cart details, and the two datacops_ properties.
- We do not send: orders, refunds or your catalog (Klaviyo's Shopify integration already sends those), anonymous visitors, bot traffic, or EU and UK visitors without consent.
- We do not read: your Klaviyo lists, campaigns or other profiles.
Disconnect
Uninstall the app in Klaviyo, or press Disconnect in Settings → Integrations → Klaviyo. DataCops revokes its Klaviyo token and stops sending right away. Your DataCops site and its data stay until you delete them. Questions: dev@joindatacops.com.
